This past summer, my friend needed a bike to get around Rochester. Honestly my fleet was beginning to challenge the storage space allocated to us in our apartment complex, so I offered up my niche-use folding bike with 16-inch tires and my friend happily accepted. But as a self-admitted bike snob who feels like a failure when I do have to use my car, I gathered nearly every bungie chord I had, determined to deliver the folding bike using my favorite ebike.

While it was a bulky and uncomfortable ride, I was able to maneuver the bike through light traffic en route to my destination.

My friend was happy to receive a form of sustainable transportation, and for me, it was a small victory to deliver that sense of enjoyment using the same sustainable motivation. It’s the little choices we make that can grow the difference in our car-oriented world.
